Simple Depression Prayers To Help Lift Your Spirit

Do you have a personal relationship with Jesus? He loves you more than you can comprehend!

Unlike a formula one racing car, when you’re depressed you can’t get from 0 to 60 in just a few seconds. It takes a little time and some effort to get out from the fogginess and heaviness of melancholy and hopelessness.

This effort entails praying our depression prayers, worshipping Jesus, Bible study and taking baby steps of faith, and may include seeking help from doctors and therapists.

But when you realize the power of prayer, this work isn’t burdensome, in fact, it can be enjoyable!

This has certainly been my experience! And even still, God sometimes answers these prayers almost instantly!

When we have a personal relationship with Jesus, we don’t have to carry the burden of our depression on our own. When we embrace that the God of the Universe is for us, and that nothing is impossible for Him, we can fully lean on Him for His strength and peace when we are unable to stand on our own.

Prayer is participatory. It is a conversation that we are having with God:

  1. We praise the One True, Triune God for His goodness and Sovereignty...
  2. We confess our sins and ask for His forgiveness...
  3. We petition for God to help us in whatever ways we need help...
  4. Then we pause to listen to what He wants to tell us and prayerfully go to the Bible to further learn what God has to say about our situation...
  5. We also spend time with Him, learning from Him and seeking to know Him more! This is important to enrich, deepen, and strengthen our relationship with Him!

We stop striving to fix things in our own strength, but lift up our depression prayers to Jesus, and take on His yoke which is easy and His burden which is light.

28 Come unto Me, all ye that labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. 29 Take My yoke upon you, and learn of Me; for I am meek and lowly in heart: and ye shall find rest unto your souls. 30 For My yoke is easy, and My burden is light. (Matthew 11:28-30 KJV)

We say, “Yes, God, we’re trusting You to help us battle this oppressive feeling of depression. Please give us the strength we need to get through this day!”

Thy shoes shall be iron and brass; and as thy days, so shall thy strength be. (Deuteronomy 33:25 KJV)

This means that we don’t need to worry about any other day than today. God will give us the strength we need for each day!

At first, we may only be able to take baby steps of faith. But if we are willing to learn and grow as born-again Christians, God will supernaturally help us to trust Him for He is our All Knowing and Merciful Father.

With time, it will become easier to recognize God's Voice.

And we can Trust God, for He cannot lie! (See Numbers 23:19, Titus 1:2, Hebrews 6:18)

But we also must always remember that we are in a spiritual battle!

The enemy of our souls is always trying to lead us away from God, so we must be wary of advice that leads us to take short-cuts or dangerous actions that could potentially hurt ourselves or others.

God will direct us to take actions that involve risk, and may involve danger like sharing the Good News with people who may persecute us for our beliefs, or helping others in dangerous parts of the world, but His intentions are always GOOD and RIGHTEOUS!

And He may tell us something that we don't want to hear, but it is always for our good!

The LORD is Always Trustworthy!

And we know that all things work together for good to them that love God, to them who are the called according to His purpose. (Romans 8:28 KJV)

What problems are you trying to solve in this world? Have you taken on the task of trying to change what is outside of your power? This leads to feelings of depression and discouragement...

Why not give your problems to God instead? Allow Him to take care of the details that are beyond your control.

God will meet you where you are when you prayerfully come to Him, and He will give you relief.

Then fix your focus on Jesus and His comfort.

When I focus on my troubles, I get anxious and discouraged and my depression threatens to consume me!

When I focus on Jesus and His promises and pray my depression prayers, God gives me comfort and peace.

He will do the same for you!

I have given some simple depression prayers below that you can pray to begin the process of talking to God honestly and learning to hear His still small Voice.

I say this because our Immense and Eternal God lovingly and quietly guides us, and we must listen carefully because there are other voices vying for our attention.

And if you find that when a new day dawns you are still struggling with depression, don’t give up! Often, it’s the enemy trying to pull us down with his lies.

For a while, if we have believed the lies of the enemy, it may be a challenge to believe that anything can change...

But take heart! God amazingly created our brains to be highly capable of learning new things. When we put forth a little effort, and ask God for His wisdom, we are capable of learning the Truth of His Word, the Bible.

That's why it is imperative that we daily, prayerfully read His Word and seek His wisdom within. When we combine daily Bible study with our daily depression prayers, we are creating new mental habits that will be supernaturally supported by the Holy Spirit's power!

Furthermore, when we daily submit our lives to the Holy Spirit's promptings, He will help us to remember what we have learned and will enable us to live our lives courageously and meaningfully!

So how do we overcome the lies of the enemy?

First, we remember that discouragement is from the enemy!

Satan will try to discourage us every chance he can get. He’ll say that we aren’t up to the task and that we’ll fail, so why even try!

The thief cometh not, but for to steal, and to kill, and to destroy: (John 10:10a KJV)

Secondly, we must be aware that Satan also masquerades as an angel of light.

And no wonder! For Satan himself transforms himself into an angel of light. (2 Corinthians 11:14 NKJV)

We must be cautious when presented with an idea as a course of action. Satan will always try to get you to question God's motives, just as he did to Eve in the Garden of Eden (See Genesis 3:1-7). Satan will always appeal to your flesh: your desire to overeat, your pride, the lusts of life, materialism. Just as he tried to tempt Jesus after He had been fasting for 40 days and 40 nights (See Matthew 4:1-11).

Praise God!! Satan failed to tempt our Precious Lord & Savior!

When you pray to God, and seek to do His will, He will constantly remind you that He is trustworthy and cannot lie (See Numbers 23:19, Joshua 23:14, Proverbs 3:5-6). He will encourage you to try a little harder....

WAIT JUST A MOMENT....

NOTE September 15, 2024: I was listening to a convicting sermon today and realized that I need to clarify...

God knows that even our very best efforts will fall short of His Glory for we are humans who were born with a sin nature. We couldn't try hard enough to save our own lives! When we acknowledge our sinfulness and accept Jesus as our Lord & Savior, we do become adopted children of the Most High God, but we still have a sin nature that wars with our new life in Christ.

When God encourages us to try harder, we are to lean on and submit wholeheartedly to HIM for strength and guidance, NOT on our own ability to do the right thing, or our own ideas about what's best.

I have to admit that I've tried my own way in the early mornings to try a little harder for some time...and it hasn't been working out so well. God still sings to me, comforts me, and gives me His peace...but I am struggling at staying awake in the mornings when I want to be alert, sober minded, and joyfully praising God.

I've prayed a prayer many a time asking God if it would be ok to have a cup of green tea with milk in the mornings so I could stay awake. It would be so much easier...in my mind, at least. But truthfully, I'm not getting to sleep as early as I should, and I want to sleep less, but I take a medication that makes it hard to function on less than 8-9 hours of sleep. This deficit makes it hard to fulfill God's will for my life in the mornings. I've felt extremely frustrated at myself, and I've struggled with thoughts that I'm failing miserably, and unable to do all the things that I think I should be able to do easily by now.

So what is a person to do?

Lean on Me, Jesus says to us, and abide in Me in all that you do (See Matthew 11:28-30, John 15:5). When we abide in Christ, and lean on Him for strength and wisdom, He will give us the energy and guidance we need. It is a very personal commitment that we have with God. You must pray for God's will for your life, and don't try to compare it to anyone else's.

What I will say is that He is always concerned for our well being...

He will help you to know what to do if you struggle as I do with staying awake, like taking a shower as soon as you get up and then exercising to further energize your body, and taking a prayer walk instead of sitting and praying.

He will also inspire you to take better care of yourself in all ways, to eat healthier foods, and to have a consistent bedtime routine. And He will help you to be better at postponing the desires that you think you just can't live without (See 1 Corinthians 10:13).

God does not appeal to the flesh. This is a hard truth to swallow, as we are so accustomed to filling our physical needs in this life...(See Matthew 26:41, Romans 8:12-13, Romans 13:14, Galatians 5:17).

But He is also extremely patient with us! He understands our weaknesses and will help us to grow in obedience to Him, as long as we are willing to learn from Him and apply His Word to our lives. He doesn't expect us to grow immediately into perfect Christians overnight. In fact, He knows that this is IMPOSSIBLE for us! We are unable to become perfect in our own power. We must lean wholeheartedly on Jesus' Perfection to transform us into His Image.

When we don't lean on Jesus and neglect seeking His guidance, we will fail every time!

NOTE: November 1, 2024 I've been successfully leaning on Jesus for a few weeks now and feeling much better about my morning routine. It really makes all the difference when you greatly desire to do God's will and submit to His ways! Praise Jesus!!

How do we overcome the lies of the enemy? Continued...

Thirdly, we remember that God, our Abba Father, is an Unconditionally Loving Comforter. He is our Supreme, Omniscient, Omnipresent, Omnipotent Creator!

3 Blessed be God, even the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of mercies, and the God of all comfort; 4 Who comforteth us in all our tribulation, that we may be able to comfort them which are in any trouble, by the comfort wherewith we ourselves are comforted of God. (2 Corinthians 1:3-4 KJV)

Fourthly, we must actively RESIST the enemy with God’s TRUTH!

We..."can do all things through Christ Who strengthens..."us. (Philippians 4:13 NKJV)

But He answered and said, It is written, Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word that proceedeth out of the mouth of God. (Matthew 4:4 KJV)

I am come that they might have life, and that they might have it more abundantly. (John 10:10b KJV)

Jesus gives us life that we might have it more abundantly

Lastly, we step out in obedience to God's loving direction when we experience His peace and are anchored to the Truth of His Word!

And thine ears shall hear a word behind thee, saying, This is the way, walk ye in it, when ye turn to the right hand, and when ye turn to the left. (Isaiah 30:21 KJV) (See also Psalm 32:8)

This is a daily habit that we must make in order to walk victoriously with the LORD!

So remember that it's very important to begin fresh each day: praying your depression prayers, seeking God’s protection, Bible study, working with your doctors and therapist, taking your prescribed medications, as well as taking part in a support or life group with other Christians!

God will help you as you continue to call out to Him and faithfully obey when He calls you to action!

Baby steps of faith!

I know this is a lot of information to take in, please don't worry! God is Faithful and full of tender mercies! He wants you to succeed and will do everything He can to help you be an overcomer. For now, all you need to do is show up and be willing to learn.

Some notes prior to begin praying...

Do you have a personal relationship with Jesus? We must be in a right relationship with God in order to enjoy the benefits of His many promises. He is calling your name!

For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved. (Romans 10:13 KJV)

Put on the full Armour of God, then return to this page by hitting the back arrow.

I have based these depression prayers on feelings and experiences that I have had, as well as some experiences that some of my friends have had, but I realize that your experience may be different from ours. If a depression prayer below doesn’t relate to your situation, please feel free to skip over that prayer.

I have added some additional depression prayers for people who are mourning the loss of someone, or saddened by a loved one's illness and suffering.

Sometimes, when I’m really struggling with an issue, I may repeat in similar language the same prayer over and over until I feel God’s healing Hand. I approach the problem from different angles and find that this can be very effective as a prayer strategy.

Ask, and it shall be given you; seek, and ye shall find; knock, and it shall be opened unto you: (Matthew 7:7 KJV)

You may even want to write down what your depression triggers are and then give them in prayer to Jesus, one-by-one.

Some common depression triggers: the nightly news, disagreements with loved ones, pain or bodily discomfort, unrealistic expectations, self-consciousness, self-condemnation or self-hatred, work stress, money issues, cold weather, etc.

In fact, you may want to refrain from situations that cause you anxiety or depression. For instance, when we spend too much time on social media we may be tempted to unfavorably compare ourselves with others, thinking their "Beautiful Lives" outshine ours.

But we must remember that everyone is struggling in some way, or another. So be kind to yourself and seek God's comfort by spending time with Him in prayer and Bible study.

For a time, you may feel that all you can do is pray, read a short passage in your Bible, and talk with a supportive Christian friend. In the beginning, that is enough. As you faithfully continue to pray, God will supernaturally give you the desire to move. You don't have to conquer the world in a day.

Even praying just ten to fifteen minutes a day everyday, is a good use of time! Build up your stamina and desire to spend time with God!

It is also helpful to pray these prayers for others you may know who are struggling with depression or mental illness. This is known as intercessory prayer.

When you make prayer a very important part of your day, you will be amazed at how God moves in your life! Praise Jesus for His Love and all His Promises!!

Dear Heavenly Father,

Oh, how I need You Abba Father! You know Everything, You are Everywhere, You are All Powerful!

Please hear my Praise and Worship, Dear Jesus!

Please forgive me for hurting others as I forgive those who have hurt me. (See Matthew 6:12)

Please help me, O God! I'm afraid to let others know how I feel because I'm afraid that they won't understand. I've expressed my depression before and some people tell me to "Snap out of it!". I've tried to "Snap out of it!" but I'm still depressed!

Please comfort me, Lord! I need You! I feel so alone sometimes and worry that people will avoid me because of my depression.

I need support, not judgment!

Please help me to find supportive people who understand what I am going through! Please be with me, Jesus! For even You suffered from great fear, anxiety, and depression when You considered the agony of the Cross!

And being in an agony He prayed more earnestly: and His sweat was as it were great drops of blood falling down to the ground. (Luke 22:44 KJV)

Even still, You did not sin! You spent time talking to Your Heavenly Father honestly about Your feelings, but You were obedient even unto death on the Cross!

Saying, Father, if Thou be willing, remove this cup from Me: nevertheless not My will, but Thine, be done. (Luke 22:42 KJV)

With You, Jesus, I can survive another day! For You courageously died for my sins! Please comfort me and lift this oppressive feeling of hopelessness!

Thank You for answering my prayer!

Oh, how I love You, Dear Lord!

In Your Precious Name I pray! Amen!

For this is the love of God, that we keep His commandments. And His commandments are not burdensome. (1 John 5:3 NKJV)

Restore my fellowship with You, O LORD God, for You promise to never leave me! I really need Your help with this sin. Please give me the strength and courage to come to You instead of indulging this particular sin!

Thank You that the same Power that rose Jesus from the dead is residing in me! Thank You, LORD, for the Holy Spirit! I pray that I would stop grieving the Spirit with this particular sin!

And grieve not the Holy Spirit of God, whereby ye are sealed unto the day of redemption. (Ephesians 4:30 KJV)

Give me instruction that I would not continue to come back to this old sin. O empower me, Holy Spirit, to deny myself this difficult sin! Help me to resist temptation!

Please take away the desire for this lust of the flesh! I DON'T WANT to be mastered by anything sinful! Please help me, LORD!

But, I DO WANT to feel content and live a simple life so that I can experience YOUR Peace and Joy, Dear Jesus!

Help me to give up that which You want me to give up, and help me to surrender to Your Will, O LORD!

Thank You for Your peace and feelings of well-being that wash over me when I obey Your commands! Oh, that I would cling to You as You relentlessly pursue me, even when I think I've gone too far!

Thank You for answering my prayer with regard to this particular sin, O LORD!

In Your Word, You say...

For He knoweth our frame; He remembereth that we are dust. (Psalm 103:14 KJV)

In Your Precious Name I pray. Amen!

You are Holy and Righteous, O LORD! How I praise You!

Please forgive me, LORD, for my sour disposition today!

Today I am struggling to accept Your comfort, O LORD! The enemy of my soul is constantly barraging my mind with his firey darts!

I feel discouraged and downtrodden. I just want to run away!

O thou afflicted, tossed with tempest, and not comforted, behold, I will lay thy stones with fair colours, and lay thy foundations with sapphires. (Isaiah 54:11 KJV)

My heart is sore pained within me: and the terrors of death are fallen upon me. (Psalm 55:4 KJV)

Please remind me that nothing, not my enemy, not my greatest fears, not anything created in this world can ever separate me from Your Tremendous LOVE!

38 For I am persuaded, that neither death, nor life, nor angels, nor principalities, nor powers, nor things present, nor things to come, 39 Nor height, nor depth, nor any other creature, shall be able to separate us from the love of God, which is in Christ Jesus our Lord. (Romans 8:38-39 KJV)

Oh, how I need You, Jesus! Please lift me up, keep me safe from my enemies!

2 I will say of the LORD, He is my Refuge and my Fortress: my God; in Him will I trust. 3 Surely He shall deliver thee from the snare of the fowler, and from the noisome pestilence. (Psalm 91:2-3 KJV)

Oh, Thank You, Lord Jesus, for sending Your comfort my way! Thank You for answering my prayers!

Oh, how I love You. Your love is sweeter than honey!

In Your Precious Name I pray! Amen!

Dear Heavenly Father,

I praise You, Father, because You are Worthy to be Praised!

Please help me, LORD! I fear that my depression is causing other people to be depressed.

Please forgive me for not taking the best care of myself!

I struggle with taking care of myself, O Lord Jesus. Please help me to take one healthy step today, Lord. I want to feel better and I don’t want to feel like I’m a burden.

Please give me some energy to make a healthy choice today.

Please encourage me, Lord, that I might feel a little lighter and motivated to keep going.

Thank You for answering my prayer, Father, and for giving me strength for this day!

Oh, how I love You and Praise You, LORD!

In Jesus’ Precious Name I pray. Amen!

Dear Heavenly Father,

You are worthy to be praised, O LORD! Thank You!

Please forgive me for procrastination this day and help me to do Your will!

I am feeling overwhelmed today, Lord Jesus. I don't know where to begin. Please help me to know what You want me to do and please make it simple.

I have all these desires in my heart and I don't know how to get organized, this keeps me from taking action. I feel discouraged when I don't follow through.

Please comfort me, Abba Father. Please place before me the next step and encourage me! You are a Good, Good Father!

Enable me, LORD, to do Your will when I struggle with overwhelm. Please remind me that I don't have to carry the weight of the world on my shoulders because that is Your job!

Please give me rest, and fill my heart with Joy! Daily remind me to pray and ask of You, for You greatly desire that I bring You my prayers and petitions!

I want to do Your will. Please instill in me a great desire to do what You want me to do, Lord Jesus!

Constantly remind me that it is my job to seek You wholeheartedly, pray for others and myself, and ask You for our needs.

18 The LORD is nigh unto all them that call upon Him, to all that call upon Him in truth. 19 He will fulfil the desire of them that fear Him: He also will hear their cry, and will save them. (Psalm 145:18-19 KJV)

Oh how I LOVE and NEED You, Jesus!

Thank You for answering my prayers, O God!

In Jesus' Precious Name, I pray! Amen!

Dear Heavenly Father,

Hear my Worship and "Hallelujah!", Dear Jesus! You are Beautiful to me!

I struggle with unhealthy people pleasing, Lord! I hate to disappoint others. I worry that I am responsible for how others feel, and that makes it very hard for me to take care of myself, and furthermore it makes it a challenge to surrender to Your Will.

Please forgive me for unhealthy people pleasing!

The fear of man bringeth a snare: but whoso putteth his trust in the LORD shall be safe. (Proverbs 29:25 KJV)

I feel like I’m spread so thin, but I hate to say no to others. Please help me to let go of my need to always say yes. Help me to know when I should say no, that I may take better care of myself.

Help me to respectfully tell someone "No." when saying "Yes!" would cause me to overextend myself in an unhealthy way! Help me to not add unneeded stress in my life!

Please also help me to not worry about what others think. Please help me to have safe boundaries and to know that it’s ok to take care of myself.

Even Jesus had to take time away from others to recharge and pray. Thank You for His Godly example!

22 And straightway Jesus constrained His disciples to get into a ship, and to go before Him unto the other side, while He sent the multitudes away. 23 And when He had sent the multitudes away, He went up into a mountain apart to pray: and when the evening was come, He was there alone. (Matthew 14:22-23 KJV)

And thank You for answering my prayers, LORD!

Help me to love You with a passionate heart!

In Jesus’ Precious Name I pray. Amen!

Dear Heavenly Father,

Thank You for all the relief You are giving me! Thank YOU for Prayer!

Please forgive me for my struggle with people pleasing.

I don't want to be a pushover, LORD. I want to be strong in my convictions. Not everyone understands my reason for not participating in some activities.

I hate to break people's hearts, Dear Lord!

Some activities just don't feel right anymore. There are so many movies, TV shows, and entertainment that saddens me. I don't want to view anything that glorifies sin. It saddens me! Especially when I give in and watch it anyway!

Please forgive me for giving into pressure!

Help me to overcome my fear of upsetting others when I decline watching those forms of entertainment!

Please encourage me and give me Your comfort when others are critical of my choices.

Remind me that there are lots of uplifting forms of entertainment that promote Faith and Goodness! Please help me to only watch faith-based shows.

Please help those who are critical of my choices to accept the new me and may they be changed, as well!

Thank YOU for answering my prayers to overcome unhealthy people pleasing!

In Jesus' Precious Name I pray. Amen!

Dear Heavenly Father,

Thank You for Your many promises, LORD God! You are Mighty and Awesome in Power!

I am feeling self critical today, Lord Jesus! I’m upset with myself for not achieving what I set out to achieve. I get depressed when I fail to accomplish what I think I should be able to do.

Please forgive me.

So often I find myself wishing that I was more organized, more productive, and making more money than I do now. I unfavorably compare myself to others who are doing so much more than I am! But that’s not what You want me to worry about.

Please help me to focus only on the things that will bring more joy and love to myself and to others. Help me to not compare myself to others, for You Love me as I am, not as I long to be!

I pray that You would be magnified by my praise and worship!

Let all those that seek Thee rejoice and be glad in Thee: let such as love Thy salvation say continually, The LORD be magnified. (Psalm 40:16 KJV)

Please lift me out of this deep pit of discouragement!

1 I waited patiently for the LORD; and He inclined unto me, and heard my cry. 2 He brought me up also out of an horrible pit, out of the miry clay, and set my feet upon a rock, and established my goings. 3 And He hath put a new song in my mouth, even praise unto our God: many shall see it, and fear, and shall trust in the LORD. (Psalm 40:1-3 KJV)

Please help me to know what is important to You, God! Help me to live my life meaningfully, by living each day for You, glorifying You and lifting others up to You.

Please help me to sacrificially give my time and resources to those who are more needy than me. Help me to share Your love with others, so that they may know how much they need You!

Please hear my depression prayers and give me Your peace which passeth all understanding.

And the peace of God, which passeth all understanding, shall keep your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus. (Philippians 4:7 KJV)

Thank You for answering my prayers!

I love You so much!

In Jesus’ Precious Name I pray! Amen!

Dear Heavenly Father,

Oh how wonderful to be Your child! You made me, O LORD! Thank You that You made me in Your image! (See Genesis 1:27 KJV)

Please forgive me for doubting Your Power in my life!

I struggle with misgivings about my abilities, O Lord! I don't think I can accomplish big goals. Please help me to learn, Dear Jesus! I feel stuck where I am and don't see a way out.

Please help me to take action on this broken dream I've had forever. I've talked about this dream for a long time and would love to raise my contribution to my family's well-being, but I really struggle with self-doubt and discouragement!

I have felt this way for a long time, O LORD! When I was growing up, I remember all the times I failed and became extremely self-conscious.

Now, I really would like to begin again from a fresh start, Dear Abba Father! Please help me to know that I can accomplish great things when I lean on You for strength, wisdom, and direction!

Help me to know that I am worthy to make improvements in my life with Your help! You have shown me that I am capable in many ways, ways that I was oblivious to until You showed me how much I've already accomplished in my life!

Please help me to overcome these doubts about my worthiness and help me to not unfavorably compare myself to others.

I remember people in my past who didn't believe in me, people who made fun of me. Please neutralize the sting of those remembrances, O Jesus!

Please help me to GREATLY Desire YOUR Will for my life, O LORD!

Thank You that You desire that I live out Your Perfect Plan for me. Help me to live the best life and help me to completely surrender to YOUR WILL, O LORD!

Please help me to enjoy the process of learning new skills, LORD! Help me to not become so attached to my desire to achieve my goals that I forget to enjoy the daily work of learning in itself!

Please help me to feel content in YOU and YOUR provision for my life!

I feel so far behind, LORD, there are so many people who have already achieved excellence in their lives. A part of me feels envious of them. Please help me to not compare myself with anyone else, Abba Father!

I feel especially slow, sometimes, Abba Father. I feel like it will take forever to reach my dreams! Please help me to realize that I have come a long way, Dear Jesus!

Please remind me that true contentment comes from seeking You in all that I do! When my focus is on Your Righteousness, LOVE, and direction I am in the proper place to take action that has impact.

Please also help me to remember that each day is a day filled with Your new Mercies and Grace! That if I have a bad day, I don't have to carry the failures of that day into a new day!

I get a clean, fresh beginning every morning (See Lamentations 3:22-23)! Praise Jesus!

Please also remind me that even 10-15 minutes a day spent working towards my goals is a success!

Oh, how I need You and Your Encouragement, O LORD! Help me to overcome the voices in my head that say I don't have what it takes!

Thank You for answering my prayers, Father! Oh, how I love YOU!

In Jesus' Precious Name I pray. Amen!

Dear Heavenly Father,

Thank You for sending Jesus into the world for our salvation, Abba Father!

How Beautiful You are, Lord Jesus! I thank You for Your Presence in my life!

Please forgive me for envy!

I see other people who seem to be so happy and fulfilled. I don't feel good about my life sometimes and I think that if I could just be more like "those" people, I would be happier!

Help me to see the beauty in my life! Please help me to look to You when I feel envy and an overwhelming desire for the material desires of this life!

Help me to remember that everyone is struggling in this world, for we all need Jesus!

I know that possessions don't bring happiness, but everywhere I look, I see temptations for more money, more things, and more experiences.

It's hard to not get caught up in the race for more, more, more!

Please remove this envy and replace it with joy! I don't want to feel envy! I need Your Supernatural Power, O Holy Spirit, to release me from the chains of envy and discontentment!

Please help me to be content with simplicity and meaningful relationships!

Please give me peace and contentment. Give me simple desires: love, charity, sacrificial service to those who have less than me!

Help me to see the beauty in my life, O LORD!

I would like to feel fulfilled, O Lord Jesus! Help me to want to learn new skills that enrich my life! I don't need to spend any money in order to experience true Joy and Contentment!

Please remind me of the blessings and talents You gave personally to me! For You created me specifically, Abba Father! Remind me that I am uniquely made by You!

I will praise Thee; for I am fearfully and wonderfully made: marvellous are Thy works; and that my soul knoweth right well. (Psalm 139:14 KJV)

Please give me the desire to develop those talents! Give me the energy to learn new skills! Oh, how I want to embrace life and live it fully, but depression and envy are making that difficult!

Please lift my depression and remove this envy so that I can live life with more peace and joy!

For You greatly desire that I enjoy the way that You made me and that I put to use the talents You have blessed me with!

Thank You, Jesus, for Your love and compassion!

Thank You for answering my prayers!

In Your Precious Name, I pray! Amen!

Dear Heavenly Father,

Oh how I praise You, LORD! You are so Beautiful to me!

Please forgive me for doubting and delaying Your plan for my life. I get discouraged when I delay doing Your will!

Please help me to get started sharing the Good News of Jesus' Salvation with others!

Please help me to share Jesus' Love! I want to follow through with Your will for my life, but I'm struggling with low energy, LORD!

Please help me to have energy to pursue this dream that You have placed on my heart. I often approach this task with trepidation. I feel that I don’t have what it takes to follow through. But You encourage me, Lord Jesus!

Please give me the words when I don’t know what to say.

And You give me the desire to be obedient. If it weren’t for You, Jesus, I would have given up a long time ago. Please daily renew in me the desire and motivation to please You, O Lord!

You strengthen me when I feel the enemy beating on my door. You give me courage when I’m afraid.

Oh, Lord, how well I know that You strengthen me, for the enemy of my soul is always trying to knock me down.

Thou hast thrust sore at me that I might fall: but the LORD helped me. (Psalm 118:13 KJV)

I praise You for You are Greater than the enemy (See 1 John 4:4). And when I reach out with my depression prayers, You are there to help me!

How I love You, Dear Abba Father!

In Jesus’ Precious Name I pray. Amen!

Dear Heavenly Father,

You are the Great Physician, O Lord! (See Mark 2:17)

I don’t feel good today, Lord! I have pains in my body that leave me feeling discouraged and depressed. Please give me relief from this physical pain.

Please help me to know if there are actions I can take to alleviate this discomfort! Please also let me know if I have physical habits that exacerbate this suffering.

Please help me to know what gentle exercises I can do to lessen the pain, and I will give the rest to You!

Please guide me to the best doctors or nurses who can help me manage this ailment that I have. I want to feel good and capable, but this pain is making it hard for me to get through my day!

Please give me the strength I need to focus less on my pain and more on Your promises, even though I don’t think I can. For Nothing is impossible for You, Lord!

Thank You for giving me relief!

I love You dearly, Lord Jesus!

In Your Precious Name I pray! Amen!

Dear Heavenly Father,

Thank You that You Always are Good, Dear Lord!

I struggle with motivation. I want to want to do things, but I find that I’m easily distracted and discouraged. Please forgive me!

Please help me to focus, Lord. Help me to check one thing off of my to do list. But also remind me what’s most important to You.

I want to know what’s most important to You, God, that I may know that I’m doing the right things. Please also let me know what is no longer worth my time.

I will pause to listen to You for You greatly desire to help me!

(Pause for God to speak to you, allow a few minutes of silence...)

Please also help me to practice being kind to myself. Help me to take one simple action today that will encourage me to continue making healthier choices.

Thank You for answering my prayers!

O how I love You, Dear LORD!

In Jesus’ Precious Name I pray. Amen!

Dear Heavenly Father,

Oh how Awesome You are, Dear Jesus!

Please forgive me for not taking good care of myself!

Please show me, Lord, how to love myself and how to love others. Please don’t let me be ashamed. I struggle with so many doubts about my worthiness.

In Your Word You say...

4 Fear not; for thou shalt not be ashamed: neither be thou confounded; for thou shalt not be put to shame: for thou shalt forget the shame of thy youth, and shalt not remember the reproach of thy widowhood any more. 5 For thy Maker is thine Husband; the LORD of hosts is His name; and thy Redeemer the Holy One of Israel; The God of the whole earth shall He be called. (Isaiah 54:4-5 KJV)

I fear that I’m not worthy of love! But You, O God, are filled with LOVE and COMPASSION!

I want to experience Your Love, O God! Please help me to know Your Love and to experience Your Love in a very tangible way.

I pray for more of Your Presence in my life, Dear Lord Jesus!

Please encourage me, Lord, that I may know how much You love me! Thank You for answering my prayers, O Lord!

I love You so much, Abba Father! Thank You for the Holy Spirit! Thank You for Jesus!

In Jesus’ Precious Name I pray. Amen!

Dear Heavenly Father,

Oh how Great You are, Dear LORD! I praise You for Your patience with me!

Please forgive me for procrastinating!

I feel like I’m treading water and not making much progress. Please help me, LORD, to get to work. Help me to make the best use of my time. Remind me that life is short and there’s lots of work to be done for You. (See Psalm 90:12)

Please give me boldness to share Your Love, O LORD!

And please give me a sense of urgency to spread the Good News! People need to hear that Jesus willingly died and was resurrected for their sins: past, present, and future. Please help me to focus my efforts so that I’m reaching out in love.

And how shall they preach, except they be sent? As it is written, How beautiful are the feet of them that preach the Gospel of Peace, and bring glad tidings of good things! (Romans 10:15 KJV)

Lots of people are struggling right now and are feeling lost. Please help me to encourage those people with Jesus’ love and sacrifice.

Thank You for this new day to serve You, Lord Jesus! For every day is a gift from God. Please help me to always remember that. And to know that loving others is the highest privilege.

37 Jesus said unto him, Thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy mind. 38 This is the first and great commandment. 39 And the second is like unto it, Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself. (Matthew 22:37-39 KJV)

Please help me to not look down on myself, but to see how I can help others to know Jesus!

You have a very special purpose for me, LORD! And for that I am very thankful! Please help me to serve that purpose!

Thank You for answering my prayers!

I love You, O LORD!

In Jesus’ Precious Name I pray. Amen!

Dear Heavenly Father,

Please hear my Praise, O Lord! Your mercy endures forever! (See Psalms 106:1; 107:1; 118:1; 136:1)

Please forgive me, for I've allowed the enemy to discourage me! I've fallen for his lies again and I'm struggling with depression!

I'm confused and dismayed because the enemy of my soul is constantly bombarding me with his firey darts!

Please help me to cling to Your Word when I get tripped up by the enemy! You are my Strong Tower, O LORD!

For Thou hast been a Shelter for me, and a Strong Tower from the enemy. (Psalm 61:3 KJV)

Because of these attacks, I'm struggling to get out of bed in the mornings! Please help me, O LORD, to be an overcomer! Help me to look to You, for Your comfort and protection!

Looking unto Jesus the Author and Finisher of our faith; Who for the joy that was set before Him endured the cross, despising the shame, and is set down at the right hand of the throne of God. (Hebrews 12:2 KJV)

Please give me strength to face my days with victory. Please help me to have energy in the early morning so that I can fully embrace each day! I want to have energy and focus.

Please put a spring in my step and give me joy in the morning! Help me to feel encouraged as I wake up, so I can give You my very best.

I pray that I get enough rest so that I can serve You with all my heart and all my soul!

Thank You for answering my prayers, Lord! I so need You and Your energy!

I Love You with all my heart, Dear Lord Jesus!

In Your Precious Name I pray. Amen!

Dear Heavenly Father,

I praise YOU for helping me to TRUST YOU MORE!

Please forgive me for not praying this sooner!

I am struggling with doubts about Your love and care, O LORD!

I'm not sure about what You are asking me to do. It worries me. Please, LORD, make it very clear what I need to do and remind me HOW TRUSTWORTHY You are!

Strengthen my FAITH and HELP me to Trust YOU more than ever! Remind me to PRAY when I'm depressed and worried about the way YOU are leading me!!

Remind me that THE HOLY SPIRIT is my POWER! And that NOTHING is impossible for YOU!

Don't let the enemy confuse me, O LORD! Keep me safe from the evil one!

Remind me that YOU care deeply about my wellbeing and that You WILL NOT lead me astray!

Help me to be an OVERCOMER, O LORD! Help me to depend on You for every need, give You every worry, and to TRUST that YOU KNOW what You're doing!

Help me to be more Victorious over the enemy's schemes! I don't want to be influenced by the enemy in any way, shape, or form!

Please help me to not be held captive by the lusts of my flesh! Help me to give up those things that are hindering my devotion to You!

Oh, how thankful You are leading me, O LORD! Thank YOU for answering my prayers!

In Jesus' Precious Name I pray. Amen!

Dear Heavenly Father,

How Awesome and Compassionate You are! I praise You for Your goodness!

Oh that men would praise the LORD for His goodness, and for His wonderful works to the children of men! (Psalm 107:21 KJV)

Please forgive me for slugishness and for not taking steps of obedience! I'm feeling dull today.

I don't know what to pray for today, LORD! Please help me!

Likewise the Spirit also helpeth our infirmities: for we know not what we should pray for as we ought: but the Spirit Itself maketh intercession for us with groanings which cannot be uttered. (Romans 8:26 KJV)

All I know is that I Need You, Jesus! Please be with me this day. Please bring to mind Your Word, that I may remember all of Your promises!

Thy Word have I hid in mine heart, that I might not sin against Thee. (Psalm 119:11 KJV)

I pray that You would give me the desire to continue to pray to You, and take steps of obedience so that I may feel uplifted and encouraged!

Oh, please give me the strength I need for this day, O LORD!

Thank You for answering my prayers!

Oh, how I love You, Lord Jesus!

In Your Precious Name I pray. Amen!

Dear Heavenly Father,

You are Mighty to be Praised, Dear LORD! I thank You for Your Goodness and Forgiveness!

Please forgive me for not being super quick to obey You, Lord! I want to do Your will, but I struggle with depression and following through!

Please help me to know that it's ok if I don't feel up to the challenge sometimes. I really struggle with self-doubt and discouragement!

Yet so many of Your children have felt the same way that I do, and yet they've gone on to do Great Things for You!

Please encourage me and keep me humble, O LORD! Let me know that I am also capable of Great Things when I acknowledge that You are my Strength and Portion. I can do nothing apart from You!

When I place my trust in You, and lean wholeheartedly on You for STRENGTH and COURAGE, I am kept safe and am empowered to live my life for YOU!

All that I do, I want to be done for You, O Lord! Your will not mine be done!

Please help me to not depend on my strength, like when I say that I want to jump out of bed super early in the morning, but I often give in to the snooze button!

Remind me that my strength comes from You!

Please give me the strength and desire to devote my days to You, O Lord! Oh, I pray that You give me the desire to get to work!

Help me to not compare myself to others who don't struggle the way that I do, because all of Your children are unique and yet equally precious in Your sight!

34 Then Peter opened his mouth, and said, Of a truth I perceive that God is no respecter of persons: 35 But in every nation he that feareth Him, and worketh righteousness, is accepted with Him. (Acts 10:34-35 KJV)

Please guide and protect me, and uphold me to Your judgement, not anyone else's. Help me to be content with the way that You made me.

I further pray that through You I may become the best version of myself and reflect Jesus' sacrificial love to others!

Thank You for lifting me up out of my depression and for keeping me humble, O Jesus! You are AWESOME and GOOD! I am so thankful that You know me and that I know You!

I love You Tremendously, Dear Lord!

In Your Precious Name I pray. Amen!

Dear Heavenly Father,

Oh how Awesome You are, O LORD! I praise You for Your lovingkindness and compassion!

Please let me know if there is any sin standing in the way of my relationship with You, and please forgive me!

(Pause to listen for God’s still small voice…)

I am struggling with feelings of insecurity, Dear Lord Jesus! I sometimes feel that people are avoiding me. I want to be friends, but I wonder if there is something wrong with me. I see the way people look at me sometimes, and I immediately feel awkward.

Is there something that I did for them to avoid me?

Please help me to be mentally well, Abba Father! Help me to not assume what people are thinking. Help me to know that perhaps they have some struggle in their lives that is bothering them. Perhaps they have the same insecurities that I do.

Please help us to know that we are loveable, O LORD!

Please help all who are experiencing social anxiety and depression, Dear Abba Father. Give us comfort and help us to not get caught up in our emotional strongholds.

I’m placing my insecurity at Your feet, O LORD! Please give my Your rest!

I would like to have a close knit group of friends, Lord. I want to feel loved and needed. Please guide me in ways to become the friend that I would like to have. Please help me to reach out to others who may feel the way that I do.

Please, Holy Spirit, lighten my heart and give me relief from this insecurity! Help me to know that I am worthy of love because You love me perfectly!

You loved me before I loved You! And what’s more, Dear LORD, Thank You that You have always been united in a perfect Trinity of Love, Joy, and Happiness!

Thank You Father God, Jesus, and Holy Spirit!

The more I learn about You, the more amazed I am! You are more wonderful than I could ever imagine!

Oh, how I long to grow in that Love, Joy, and Happiness in my heart and soul! Oh, how I long to also share that love with others.

Please send me people who need that same LOVE from You and others!

Thank You for answering my prayers and for LOVING me!

In Jesus’ Precious Name I pray. Amen!

Dear Heavenly Father,

You are Beautiful in All That You Are! Thank You for prayer!

Please forgive me for my sins this day!

Abba Father, O how I praise You! Thank You for Your energy! Thank You for helping me to love others better!

Love is a verb and I desire to love others more with my actions! Please give me the energy to LOVE as You LOVE!

Even small and thoughtful loving actions can have a big impact on someone's life. Help me to give joy to others!

Help me to understand that LOVING others is not a burden, but an HONOR!

Help me to selflessly give my time and attention to those who are hurting. Help me to be the friend that I would like to have!

Help me to embrace others with Your Love and Compassion! Help me to pray for others and seek ways that I can serve them.

Thank You for lifting me up out of my depression so that I can help lift up others who may also be depressed!

Thank You for answering my prayers!

Oh, how I love Thee, O Jesus!

In Your precious Name I pray. Amen!

Dear Heavenly Father,

Thank You for Inspiration!

You inspire me to live life more purposefully! Thank You for the inspiration to pray everyday for the energy and joy to serve You!

Please support me as I step out in obedience!

When I am tired and don't feel I have anything left, when I pray and obey, You supernaturally give me the energy to continue.

So I am always thankful when I obey You!

Each step of obedience leads me safely to the next important step of my journey. You patiently and lovingly guide me. And while I can't see very far ahead of me, Your loving Hand holds me and Your Gentle Voice says, "Trust Me!"

And thine ears shall hear a word behind thee, saying, This is the way, walk ye in it, when ye turn to the right hand, and when ye turn to the left. (Isaiah 30:21 KJV)

So I am very thankful every time I choose to Trust You!

Please continue to be with me every step of the way, Dear Jesus!

Thank You for answering my prayers!

In Your Precious Name I pray! Amen!

Dear Heavenly Father,

You are Awesome in Power and full of Love and Compassion! Oh how Great You are, Dear Abba Father!

Thank You for this day, LORD! I praise You for prayer because when I put my faith in You to lift me up, You respond with “Yes!” and “Amen!” (See 2 Corinthians 1:20)

`I want to please You, Lord! For You are Sovereign, You are Good, and You are Faithful!

You want to spend time with me each day, LORD! That is amazing to me.

How can You, a Holy and Righteous God, want to spend time with little old me? I’m so very thankful for this!! And I am so thankful that I put my faith in Jesus!

I always want Your encouragement, Lord, and am so happy when I hear You say to me “Time well spent!” For there’s nothing more important to me than to please You!

Please keep me humble and prayerful! For Nothing is impossible for You, LORD!

Thank You for answering my prayers!

Oh, how I love You! I will Praise You Forever!

In Jesus’ Precious Name I pray. Amen!
